What type of insulation should be used for my 1925 built house. | |
There is no insulation in the walls. I do not want to demolish the inside walls. I am figuring some kind of blown in insulation should be used. Blown in of course. Should it be blown in from inside the house or outside. What about a vapour barrier?

Cellulose is best blown in from the outside. A lot less mess and easier to patch up your walls. Hard to get any kind of vapor barrier in there though.
An answer to both problems is 'low expansion' Icynene. Saw it used on "This Old House" and it's slick. Only needs small holes, expands to fill the whole wall and acts as a vapor barrier. Costs more than cellulose, but gives you a better R-value per inch and blocks the air infiltration that saps your house of heat.
