Fiberglass insulation in steel studs, how's it held in place so it does not slump down? | |
When you do fiberglass in wooden studs you can use staples to hold it in place so it does not shift down over time. How is it done with steel studs? Staples don't work!
Answers:
1I used to fabricate steel buildings. there are a number of ways to keep the insulation from sliding down. 1st is tape. most steel buildings dont have interior walls, so an adhesive backing is used. for those that have an inter wall glues are sometimes used.

don't use fiberglass!!!
use a rigid insulation such as roxul mineral wool insulation. it's innate properties mean that it doesn't slump. it also has the ability to be trimmed to an exact fit (with a simple knife) ensuring proper r-value forever!
