is insulation in house siding a scam ?

Answers:

1It depends what your house siding is made of and the degree of insulation conferred already.

Unless your walls are two skins of insulating block or one skin of insulating block and an outer one of brick with at least a 4-inch air cavity between then there is definitely a good case to insulate.

If you are in a colder climate (like here in the UK) then even insulating between two brick/block skins will have an effect and save money on heating costs.

If your walls are wood, tiles, plastic or metal then insulating is a VERY good idea.
