unique problem old rear roof almost flat, added knee wall & new roof on top of old roof & ridge vent, gable vents, soffits & insulation on floor of old roof & have a huge condensation problem, also using woodstove heat in basement in winter-help asap | |
what r-value/type of insulation (ie., foam supertuff-r is our choice, as easiest to take out if it is wrong stuff), do we need for insulating & should we be taking off the wood (tongue & groove) from the old roof first before insulating. also, do we need any type of insulation on the actual roof side itself. highest height in attic at peak approx. 3 ft. or so gradually decreasing until it comes to the soffits outside only at the back of the home. front pitch approx. 4.5 pitch (estimated). ongoing problem never been answered yet, new roof still in good shape...for now. please help !

if you are worrying about moisture or water problems, you can use spray foam since it has moist preventive features and also it can cover up even the tiniest uncovered parts of the roof.
