what kind of insulation should i use in a firewll between houses?

the space is above a garage and two houses are joined together by the garages.i may in the future decide to finish and heat my side.because it could be possible the other house may want to do the same in the future,what should i do about a vapor barrier?

you may use the kind of insulation which deflects heat and sound since the firewall is between garages. dynamat can do the trick. if there is an existing vapor barrier on your firewall, just leave it there. it will protect your firewall from moisture.
