what is the best type of home insulllation for wall, attic for new addition

what is the best r value insullation for walls and attic for new addtion and what are the best tested ones listing advantages and disadvantages - i personally do not think saving money via a high r value insullation is worth risking lung cancer down the road. how well tested and by whom, are insullation materials. can you provide me with a non biased answer to my questions. all information is appreciated. thank you, diane

the r value of your insulation depends on your local weather. i would not worry too much about the perceived chemical content of insulation materials since they are inside the walls and does not affect your health directly, besides, the government is regulating all chemical content of materials that are out in the market.
