basement ceiiling fiberglass instalation

i have a room in my basement that houses our laundry appliances, furnace, and oil storage tank. th e room is usually quite warm. the previous owners installed fiberglass instalation(exposed) on the ceiling. does this instalation keep the warmer air from the basement from reaching the cooler rooms above it? should i tear down the installation?

From: AT Carroll

yes it does. insulation works to prevent warm air from going out during the cold season and prevents the hot air to enter the house during the hot season. leave it be.
