how to seal up a side attic in a 1885 house in illinois? | |
i live in a farm house in illinois built in 1885. the house was completely remodeled by a previous owner including blow in insulation in the walls and attic. the problem is the upstairs is much colder in the winter than the first floor. i have traced the problem to a side attic that runs the length of the upstairs. in the winter there is no snow over this side attic. i have added insulation in the walls between this attic and the living space and this only helped slightly. the door is an interior door and the previous owner installed two roof vents in this side attic. the floor is tongue and groove and has some type of pink blown in insulation in there which may be quite old. any help on how to seal this up is needed. are the two roof vents needed?
