this is an insulating question about hot tub covers. | |
i am looking at a soft hot tub cover filled with air as an insulator. asking if this cover could provide as much insulation r-value as the foam one. i am getting two different opinions and would appreciate some info as to which is better. also when a foam cover gets water-logged over time how much insulation value is lost?

if your looking for the spa cap yes it has more than twice the insulating value of any hard cover on the market. if you;re talking about the one with the ballon (cheap) in the middle no it won't insulate that good. there is only one that has everything you need. we have had the spa cap for many years now. the hard cover doesn't start insulating right at the water level therefore it has lost most of the heat before it ever hits the bottom of the hard cover. it has no insulating value when it has absorbed water.
