• Check the attic and ensure proper insulation and ventilation of air. If needed, add an extra layer of attic insulation as it prevents ice dams reduces the heat loss through your home’s cracks in the home. It will also reduce the mold build-up.
• A storm window prevents drafty rooms.
• Add storm windows to your home, replacing all screens. These windows work by stopping air from getting in the house. If a crack exists anywhere near the window, seal those caulk. It will prevent drafts from the outside. Seal the cracks in the doors as well.
• Add sealant to the house siding.
• Address the cracks in the house siding. Fill any gap with caulk and seal the exterior with the appropriate siding sealant.
• Avoid a burst pipe as it costs a lot.
• Add insulation to the pipes in order to prevent a pipe freeze. The frozen pipe causes significant damage in the exterior and interior of the home. Be sure and add insulation for both cold and hot water pipes.
• Update your house’s heating system.
• Heating system efficiency improves with time. Check the current heating system's installation period and if your system is over thirty years old, you should get an upgrade.

• Plastic window insulation could serve as a substitute to storm windows.
• Insulated curtains could serve as a barrier to the drafty windows.
