What Should I add to an Attic that Contains Existing Blanket or Loose-Fill Insulation?

If your attic already has some kind of insulation but it seems that it is not enough than there are some things that could be added. First of all, you could insert insulation foam to all of the small openings and cracks as it is the best way how to insulate them. There are many different types of insulation foams, but the main and most common ones are the spray foam insulation and the plastic foam insulation. Most of them will expand once inserted into an opening which means that they will fill all of it completely. So even if you have insulation, you can still use those foams wherever it is necessary. One more thing about the insulation foams is that they are really easy to use due to the packaging they are sold in.

Secondly, another thing that you could do is to cover all of the existing insulation with a new coat of insulation. This case need a lot of pre-work as you have to make sure what kind of insulation suits with your exciting one and how can it be installed on top of the other. This option means that you will have really good and through insulation in your attic.
