How to install plastic foam insulation?

When it is getting closer to winter, the cold air starts to lure around your house looking for those small holes to get in and the warm air will try to get out. To prevent this, your house needs proper insulation. Plastic foam insulation is one of the types of insulation you can choose, which will keep the warm air in winter and the hot air out in summer.

Plastic foam may come in a simple spray bottle, which can be used in filling the smaller holes or areas such as gaps around the doors or windows, various corners and smaller openings in walls, floors or ceilings. It is easy to use – simply squirt some foam on the spot or gap that needs to be insulated – the foam will expand considerably as it comes in contact with air fully filling the gap. The foam will need some time to harden and after that the excessive amount of the foam may be cut off with a sharp knife.

Plastic foam may also be used in wider areas like in walls and ceilings as insulation material, usually this should be done during the building process, not afterwards, and in this case you should hire a professional with the right equipment to do this.
