Does expanding foam insulation absorb water?

Expanding foam insulation is designed to prevented water from entering your home, thus it is logical that it does not absorb water. If the expanding foam would absorb water it would mean that it will let the water enter your home, thus there would be no point in installing the insulation if it does not give you any kind of a benefit.

The expanding foam insulation one it is inserted to a gap or a hole in the wall or other types of cavities it fills it to the maximum. So actually the water cannot get through, if it could than there would be a lot of humidity and condensation that would start to ruin the other parts of your home.

Of course, there might also be some special expanding foam insulation that are able to absorb water but that should be written on the expanding foam insulation package and also there should be implied in which kind of circumstances it is suitable to use that kind of foam insulation. These expanding foam insulations are not widely spread and therefore you might not find them in your hardware store, but then just use the regular foam insulation and actually it is even better when it does not absorb water.
