What happens when I compress fiber glass insulation?

Fiberglass insulation has one of the highest R-values among other types of insulation which means that it has one of the best qualities if used as insulation. Therefore, it is used quite widely, but there are many common mistakes that are done which will diminish the R-value or in other words destroy the insulation abilities of the fiberglass insulation. One of them is compressing fiberglass insulation into gaps where it does not fit. Basically, if the fiberglass is too big for the framework or for some other reason does not suit the place you are trying to install it to, do not compress it. You just have to cut it to a suitable size, but do not forget to take all the necessary precautions when cutting fiberglass insulation as it might hurt your skin and throat if you breathe in the particles that are released when cutting the tiles.

So if you want to do the insulation all by yourself and are convinced of using fiberglass insulation, keep in mind that if you want to preserve its insulation abilities for no reason compress it to a smaller size than it is already. And of course, take care of your health when installing the fiberglass insulation as it might be somewhat dangerous as mentioned before.
